Molyneux Hints At Radical Fable Changes

The Microsoft Game Studios Creative Director has stated his concerns over showing Fable 3 at X10 later this week

The veteran game designer and Lionhead boss told GameReactor "Wow, there's some very, very big things happening with Fable. Bigger than you think and it's going to really upset people. I'm really scared that when I go out and tell people what it is they are going to get super pissed off, they really are. But it's the right thing to do, I'm sure it's the right thing to do."

Fable 3 is set to utilise Project Natal, and Microsoft's x10 event - which starts on Thursday - will be the first time the game has been shown. Molyneux is also set to deliver a lecture at next month's GDC titled "The Complex Challenges of Intuitive Design", in which he'll use Fable 3 to explore how to "ensure that gamers of all abilities can quickly and easily immerse themselves in the game world" using the game to demonstrate "examples of long-established game mechanics which Lionhead intends to replace with more user-friendly and modern iterations".

The Fable series has in the past attempted to refine 'long-established' mechanics such as combat and navigation - will we see voice or gesture recognition come in for dialogue selection or character interaction?
