Tekken 6 director Katsuhiro Harada has said the 360 version of Namco's upcoming beat em' up will not be inferior to the PS3 version

"We want to dispel any fears that fans might have that the 360 version will be inferior [to the PS3 version]," said Harada. "We are making progress every day and we're quite confident."

Harada added that it has been a "big challenge" to develop Tekken 6 on the 360, as the game was originally designed for an arcade board based on similar architecture to the PS3.

“We are making progress every day and we're quite confident”

When it came to Sony's console, Harada said the potential of the PS3's hardware became more apparent during Tekken 6's development.

"As far as [the PS3's] potential goes, this is something we really noticed when developing Bloodline Rebellion. In the Tekken Project, when we talk about dividing the processing we say to “SPU it”. If you use the SPU’s capabilities properly and optimize the code accordingly you can pull a lot out of the hardware."

Harada previously said it was proving difficult to fit Tekken 6 onto a single DVD, and that the next iteration of the Xbox 360 could benefit from technology used in Tekken 6's development.
