Verdict
Inferno loopy nuts are we...
We’ve begged Blade Interactive in person but sadly they’ve failed to go ahead with it. In a title where the sole object is to whiz around the table like some legless, armless Ronnie O’Sullivan, clearing up against the clock they’ve somehow slipped up. Choosing to ignore their efforts for this year’s officially licensed snooker title, they’ve unbelievably failed to include the obvious piece of commentary in which John Virgo says “you’ve got to pot as many balls as you can”. A tragedy of the highest order without doubt. Maybe Jim Davidson owns copyright on the phrase.

No matter though, as Inferno Pool is really a lot better than its urban looks suggest and what’s more, the perfect antidote to Bankshot Billiards’ morphine shot. It’s all essentially a test of endurance, featuring simplified controls and balls that appear based upon how rubbish you’re doing. Lasting the longest brings untold rewards…because you read them on Leaderboards, of course. Besides regular boring pool there’s also the chance to play competitively, launching every ball you pot onto other peoples’ tables, like some slightly more spherical version of Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine.
Away from the table there’s legitimate concern regarding how mode-light everything is but, let’s face it, welcome is the chance to not have 1200 points gouged out of your virtual wallet for the privilege.
Final Verdict
1200 points isn't the cheapest, but for what you get, it's well worth your time and money. A labour of love where the love spills directly into your living room 8.1/10
