Verdict
The first FPS ever. Doesn't mean it's the best…
When it comes to the granddaddy of all FPS shooters, you could argue Wolfenstein 3D is best left to the rose-tinted abyss of your memory. After all, playing it now is more an act of keeping your lunch down and mild amusement over the fact that you still remember where the secret passageways are, than any real enjoyment. Maybe we’re just being pessimistic, but games like Wolfenstein should only be played for the benefit of hindsight.

There’s no map, the textures generally look awful (yes, we know it’s old but it looks like they’ve barely been touched since its original release) and playing this just reminds us how good Doom was when it came out. Don’t get us wrong, Wolfenstein is very deserving of its special place in the history of videogames, but that doesn’t mean playing it again now is any fun; try and watch Citzen Kane now, it’s a bit boring.
Final Verdict
Cheap as hell for a piece of gaming history. Download and pop into a shiny display cabinet. 7.1/10
